| Near Miss Program |
A near miss can be defined as an unexpected or undesired event that under slightly different conditions could
have resulted in an injury, loss or damage, but did not due to position, timing or other circumstances. The
reporting of near misses to company supervision is a very important part of a good safety program. It is
equally important that the supervisor take the action that is necessary to maximize the benefit of the reported
information. There are some near misses that are actually more important to investigate and implement
corrective actions for than some of the accidents that resulted in an injury. The severity potential should carry
